Bus Driver:  Under general supervision, to operate a school bus or transportation vehicle over designed routes within an established time schedule; to transport students to and from school; to perform daily inspections of a bus or transportation equipment; and to do other related work as required.

Custodian:  Under supervision, to maintain an assigned facility, group of buildings or office space in a clean, orderly and secure manner following a predetermined schedule; and to do other related work as required

Bus Driver:

Knowledge of:  Safe driving practices and techniques; basic first aid procedures and methods; safety and maintenance requirements of bus and other pupil transportation equipment; provisions of the Education Code, California Motor Vehicle Code and Title 13 applicable to the operation of vehicles in the transportation of school children.

Ability to:  Drive a school bus and other transportation equipment safely and efficiently; maintain appropriate student behavior on a school bus or other transportation equipment; perform appropriately in situations requiring  tact and diplomacy; understand and carry out oral and written directions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Experience:  One year of experience in the transportation of school children, or the completion of a school bus driver training program.

Education:    Completion of twelfth grade or G.E.D.

License and Certification RequirementsPossession of a valid Class II California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License; possession of a School Bus Driver’s Certificate, with medical certificate, issued by the California Highway Patrol, including passage of a first aid examination.


Ability to: Perform moderately heavy manual activities; efficiently and effectively use cleaning materials, supplies and equipment; understand and carry out oral and written directions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

ExperienceSix months of experience involved with the care and cleaning of buildings and facilities.



Selected candidates will be required to pass a pre-placement medical assessment.

The person selected for this position will be subject to a fingerprint criminal history clearance through the California Department of Justice, per AB1610, prior to the candidate’s date of employment.

Insurability by the District’s liability insurance carrier.



$13.82 – $17.64 per hour; Eight hours daily/12 months
