This Management Bulletin (MB) transmits the current nondiscrimination statement that is required on all communications to the public regarding the United States Department of Agriculture, Child Nutrition Programs. The current version is:
“In accordance with Federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.
To file a complaint of discrimination, write USDA,Director, Office of Civil Rights, 1400 Independence Avenue, SW, Washington, D.C. 20250-9410 or call 800-795-3272 or 202-720-6382 (TTY). USDA is an equal opportunity provider and employer.”
All published information and other forms of communication, such as radio and television announcements, that are made available to the public and are related to federally-funded child nutrition programs must include this statement. The full statement does not have to be in the same font size as the text of the material, but the text must be large enough to be readable. Sponsors must place the statement in a prominent location in each publication, including leaflets, brochures, bulletins, and newspaper announcements.
The statement shall be in English and in all languages appropriate to the local population, including alternative means of communication such as Braille, large print, or audiotape.
If the material is too small to permit the full statement to be included, the material will, at a minimum, include the following statement in print size no smaller than the text:
“This institution is an equal opportunity provider.”
